Cuisine modern

Menu: 62£ A particularly interesting wine list

Stylish restaurant in a grand hotel, displaying bold red walls hung with fine art, well-spaced tables and deep corner banquettes. Ambitious cooking uses quality Scottish produce to create elaborate, precisely executed dishes. Assured, attentive service.

      Pros

We had dinner at Restaurant Number One during our 2 days stay at The Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh. The tasting menu was good and the service was attentive.

      Cons

The ambience is a little bit too dark.

      Pros

      The service was correct

      Cons

This simply was not one star cooking. From beginning to end the flavors were heavy, and each course had something fried on it - it just became to too much. Undercooked fish left my colleague sick, and the wines and wine service was poor - it was tailored for people who nothing about wine.
