Travel guide Royal Tunbridge Wells
Royal Tunbridge Wells : The Michelin guide review
Tunbridge Wells offers a graceful combination of Georgian and Victorian buildings amid parks, vistas and a vast semi-wild common. The town's prosperity is due to the accidental discovery of its mineral springs in 1606 by Lord North. It soon became very fashionable and new buildings were erected everywhere. Queen Anne provided the tiled paving after which "The Pantiles" are named. Queen Victoria came here on holiday.
