In the footsteps of Robin Hood

In the footsteps of Robin Hood

Bericht Informe Reportage Report Relazione - 2010-05-10

Ridley Scott’s new Robin Hood film is an invitation to discover the famous Sherwood Forest and the good old town of Nottingham.

You can start your tour by visiting the ‘Robin Hood – The Movie’ exhibition which is taking place in Nottingham Castle and Sherwood Forest’s Visitor Centre until October 2010. As a Brit who has spent most of his career in Hollywood, Ridley Scott, the film director, was absolutely set on shooting in Great Britain in order to capture “the essence” that “... only British  film sets can offer.”  This exhibition gives an insight into the importance of these sets: “the fact that we could make such a beautiful production is due to the authenticity that the sites in Britain and the East Midlands offered us.”

The website Visit England shows the film trailer, gives the filming locations and lists the other places associated with the Robin Hood legend so that visitors can follow in his footsteps. Nottingham castle is of course the starting point, but from the NCCL Galleries of Justice Museum to the Nottingham caves or from St Mary’s Church to the famous Sherwood Forest all roads lead to the big-hearted outlaw, the archetypal hero of the middle ages.
