Travel guide Norwich
Norwich
: The Michelin guide review
On the banks of the River Wensum, Norwich has preserved its medieval character. The city grew rich in the Middle Ages when it was the commercial hub of the East Anglian wool trade. The spires and towers of some 30 churches which dot the horizon date from this period. The castle keep on its hilltop dominates the town; at its foot, old Norwich stretches out as its cobbled streets lined with half-timbered houses lead up to the cathedral behind its stone gates.
