Through paintings and ship models, Liverpool's marine past is presented via a series of exhibitions on shipbuilding, navigation, the development of its port and the rise in maritime confidence. Another section retraces the history of various methods used to counteract smuggling.
the most moving part of the exhibition is the section devoted to living conditions in the 19C and to the 9 million souls who were emigrating to the New World who stopped at Liverpool between 1830 and 1930.
