Since its creation around 1200, Briggate has been the main commercial thoroughfare. Among the arcades, Country Arcade is the most luxurious, but you can also stroll through the very attractive covered markets, admired the Rood screen in son John's Church and the Grand Theatre seat of the Northern Opera and inspired by La Scala in Milan.
