Comfortable, contemporarily stylish restaurant overlooking cathedral. Menu has good choice of well-balanced and confident modern British cooking. Pleasant, efficient service.

      Pros

the foooood! outstanding! creative, beautifully presented, exceptional harmony of flavours. I have bee 4 times in 2 months, with different people; they all rave about it. so far the best food within 30 miles of Exeter.

      Cons

a few of the waiting staff (at least in summer) although VERY friendly and full of goodwill, are VERY, VERY inexperienced, bordering on clumsy. For a restaurant of this level, it can surprise some....

      Pros

Although Michael Caines was not in the kitchen, the tasting menu was well up to his standard, and therefore worthy of a rosette. Every course was excellent and the menu as a whole extremely well balanced. The same went for the wines with each course, some of which were surprising choices, but every one of them perfect with the food.
