Chester stands near the Welsh border and is one of the most picturesque towns in England. It was occupied by the Romans, Vikings and Normans and was once a regional capital. The Rows, its medieval multi-storey shopping arcades, the preserved ramparts and cathedral provide the city with undeniable charm. Chester’s port reached its peak in the late 16C.
