Bradford star : The Michelin guide review

Like its neighbour Leeds, Bradford prospered thanks to the wool trade. In 1500, it was a bustling commercial town which already owed much of its wealth to the clothing industry. Bradford Canal opened in 1774, thus easing communications and trade. Bradford is essentially a Victorian city; it was already operating 120 mills in 1850, at which time it was the worsted wool capital of the world.
