Travel guide Kassel
Kassel
: The Michelin guide review
Kassel, lying in the heart of mountainous, wooded countryside, was the former residence of the Landgraves, and of the Brothers Grimm between 1805-1830. It is now Northern Hessen's main economic, administrative and cultural centre. Famous for its music and theatre, the city is even better known for the Documenta, an international contemporary art exhibition. The focal point for the event is the Fridericianum, a pre-Classical building designed as museum and library for the Landgrave Frederick II.
