Travel guide Hamburg
Hamburg
: The Michelin guide review
Hamburg, the second largest city in Germany after Berlin, is one of the most important ports in Europe. The city is renowned for its commercial dynamism, cosmopolitan character and busy nightlife. Ravaged by bombing during the Second World War, Hamburg was rebuilt largely in concrete, although the city still has some hidden gems. Numerous parks and gardens, canals, bridges and a pretty lake fed by the River Alster soften the city’s somewhat austere appearance. Today the city is undergoing revolutionary change with the spectacular restoration of its docks area.
