Anger Museum : The Michelin guide review

The focal point of this fine museum, located in a Baroque building, is the exhibition of medieval art from Thuringia, which includes some superb altarpieces and a Pietà by the Master of St Severinus' sarcophagus. In the gallery the works of 18C and 19C German landscape artists are displayed. Porcelain and faience have pride of place in the craft exhibition. The museum's prize piece is however the mural by Erich Heckel, painter and cofounder of the Expressionist Die Brücke movement.
