Benrath Castle : The Michelin guide review

The chateau (1755-1770) built by the architect Nicolas de Pigage was ordered by Louis XV. The central building flanked by two low wings was designed for the prince-elector of the Palatinate. The apartments still have their original decoration in a very sober rococo style which is a forerunner to classicism. You will appreciate the magnificent furniture dating from the second half of the 18C. A French-style park acts as a bower for the building. It is heavily wooded and extends to the Rhine.
