The Gemaldegalerie Alte Meister houses paintings collected by Augustus the Strong and his successor Augustus III. Exhibits include masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance and Baroque periods, as well as works by Flemish and Dutch masters of the 17C, with paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens, Vermeer de Delft, Holbein, Cranach the Elder, Dürer, Canaletto, Veronese, Tintoretto, Titian, Raphaël, Botticelli, and Tiepolo. Also of note are works from the 18C French School, and 17C and 18C Spanish and German Schools.
