The jewellery and gold work collected by Augustus II are now once again on display in the historical green vault of Dresden Palace, which takes its name from the emerald green colour of its main room. The 3,000 items are exhibited in nine magnificently decorated cabinets, each of which is dedicated to a gem or precious metal (amber, emerald, white silver, jewels, bronze etc). Also worth a visit is the new green vault, which houses pieces by Johann Melchior Dinglinger, the Dresden court jeweller.
