Zoologischer Garten star : The Michelin guide review

Opened in 1844 in the park designed by Peter Joseph Lenné, the zoo is home to almost 13,000 animals. Its spectacular collection of rare species includes cassowaries, condors, harpy eagles, seals, okapis, beavers and pandas. Equally as impressive is the aquarium near the Elefantentor on the Budapesterstraße, where reptiles, batrachians and insects, as well as fish, can be admired. Huge tanks allow visitors to observe sharks, rays, octopuses and other fish. Don’t miss the impressive crocodile house.
