The picturesque architectural ensemble of the Marisches Museum and the Stiftung Stadtmuseum Berlin is arranged around two inner courtyards. Built between 1899 and 1908 in Gothic and Renaissance style typical of the Brandenburg March area, the museum retraces the historical and cultural evolution of Berlin from its earliest inhabitants to the present day. A copy of the huge statue of Roland de Brandenburg dating from 1474 stands in front of the museum entrance.
