Ehemaliges Postfuhramt star : The Michelin guide review

This magnificent building (1875-81) built by Carl Schwalto in varnished brick and terracotta once housed the old post office. Note the medallions on the façade which bear images of Herodotus, Marco Polo, Gutenberg, Christopher Columbus, Franklin and von Siemens, among others. The monumental entrance is crowned by an octagonal drum dome. When the door is open, the huge courtyard which once housed the stables can be seen from Auguststraße.
