TOURISM
The Nikolaikirche is the oldest existing monument in Berlin (1230). Only the stone foundations of the tower and western door of the three-nave Romanesque basilica remain. The Gothic choir dates from 1380 and the aisles of the “hall-church” from the 15C. It was renovated from 1876-78, when a double bell tower in neo-Gothic style was added. Carefully rebuilt after the war, the church has housed a small museum since 1987; note the funerary chapel by Johann Andreas von Kraut in the entrance.
