All city transport converges in this avenue with its fashionable cafés, cinemas and department stores. Its veritable hour of glory was in the 1930s and it is finding it difficult to regain its former lustre. Several buildings are a reminder of its glorious past: between Rue St-Férréol and Cours Saint-Louis can be found façades with Rococo decor, a Baroque building on the corner of the Cours and two Second Empire buildings at nos 53 and 62 (hôtel de Noailles).
