«Cathau la Borgnesse», lady's maid to Anne of Austria, having bestowed her favours on the young Louis XIV, was, as a sign of his royal appreciation, ennobled and enriched, as was her husband, Pierre Beauvais, without however having to earn the royal favour in so personal a manner. This sumptuous mansion was designed by Le Pautre. From the balcony, Anne of Austria and the Queen of England, watched Louis XIV's triumphal entry into Paris, and that of his wife, Marie-Thérèse, on 26th August 1660.
