Hollowed out by the River Vis, the cirque forms an immense meander deeply embedded in almost vertical walls of rock. It can be seen in its entirety from three spots: Baume-Ariol farm, the village and the north belvedere. The first (alt 618m) offers a striking view of the site and the Vis canyon. The village of Navacelles commands a view from below, and the north belvedere (613m) affords a magnificent view of the whole cirque.
