Châtellerault : The Michelin guide review
The origins and name of the town date back to a castle built in the 10C by Ayraud, Viscount of Poitou. The town then developed on both banks of the River Vienne at the end of its navigable section. The right bank is a pleasant place for a walk, with its pedestrian area and tree-lined avenues. But these days there are more signs of activity on the other side of the river, since the renovation of the old Manu industrial site which houses a cultural and leisure complex set in an area full of greenery.
