The Virgin's Rock : The Michelin guide review

It was Napoleon III's idea to hollow out this stone, which is surround by reef. He also had it joined to the cliff by means of a wooden bridge. Today, it is linked to the coast by a metal footbridge made at the Eiffel workshops. It is inaccessible in rough weather as big waves cover the road surface. There is a beautiful walk along the slightly sloping ramps shaded by tamarisks, as you continue towards Basta Rock and then on to Grande Plage.

Pros

L'acces au rocher via la passerelle peut etre assez impressionant, c'est un peu haut et le plancher est ajouré. Tant pis pour ceux qui sont sujets au vertige. Les vagues peuvent parfois mouiller la passerelle et l'accés au rocher est interdit par gros temps. On peut egalement aller sur la plupart des autres rochers du site, avec de trés belles vues sur la grande plage de Biarritz. Mention spéciale à la plage des basques voisine, petite crique sympathique aux allures de calanque et au fond tapissé d'anémones de mer.
