Port-Cros : The Michelin guide review

A day at Port-Cros is a real delight. With its small harbour where you can discover underwater flora and fauna and a botanical path overlooking the sea which, after the Estissac fort (exhibition) leads to Palud beach. Here the braver visitors take the plunge with mask and snorkel to explore the underwater path. Finally, take a romantic walk through the Vallon de la Solitude in the shadowy light of the forest. You can go as far as the curved green landscape of Port-Man bay.

Pros

Pour les amoureux inconditionnels de nature, le seul parc national marin de France. L'ile est trés (sur)protégée ce qui peut conduire à la fermeture de zones sensibles en fonction du climat, risque incendie notament. Mais l'ile est tellement belle qu'on ne peut en faire le reproche. Un petit coin de ce que doit etre le paradis, ou les poissons viennent manger dans votre main, et vous accompagnent au cours de vos randonnées sous-marine !

Cons

Les cigales en quantité invraissemblable vous empècheront de faire la sieste, ce n'est même pas la peine d'y penser. Alors, promenez vous ! Les compagnies assurant le transport entre ile et continent pratiquent des tarifs que je trouve exagéré, limite escroquerie.

what is there to dislike? a very special trip for two. leave early and stay the entire day. beautid=ful clear water, surrounded by many paths to explore. secluded areas...exposed to sun, shade, glorious fauna, the largest dragonflies! wow! nature park has a good gifts shop with plenty of books and souvenirs, local harbour cafe, i believe even a post office. our little ferry boat was bringing over someone's washing machine! we loved it here...

nothing to dislike! apart from the ferry - i was a bit nervous!
