Nevers : The Michelin guide review
Nevers, capital of the Nivernais, is famous for its earthenware, which was introduced from Italy by Duke Louis de Gonzague in the 16th C. This renowned industry used to employ up to 1,800 people at its height. Today, four craftwork companies continue this traditional savoir-faire.
From the red sandstone bridget that crosses the Loire, you can get a view of the old town, stepped up a hill and dominated by the cathedral and the elegant shape of the ducal palace.
