Cour de Bar : The Michelin guide review

This courtyard is dominted by its 14C tower, built by Philippe the Bold, known as the new tower when constructed but now the oldest part of the palace. The 17C Bellegarde staircase serves the north gallery: Statue of Claus Sluter (the main sculptor of Philippe the Bold’s tomb) by Bouchard. The courtyard takes its name from René, Duke of Bar, who was held in the tower in 1431 after being captured by Philippe the Good.
