Quimperlé star : The Michelin guide review

To the north of the Carnoët Forest which flanks the River Laïta, Quimperlé (the name means “at the confluence of the River Ellé”) has a waterfront still redolent of its historic port, today used by pleasure craft. The town has the fine Romanesque church of Ste Croix and several medieval houses, notably in rue Dom-Morice. Quimperlé is the ideal base from to discover accessible forests and the nearby coastline.

The remnant of a «mast pit» from 1826? That's what they think today: the wood intended for naval building at that time was covered in mud in order to be protected from rotting. Whatever, this field of blackish posts is particularly impressive when ex..

    Le Yachtman Comfortable restaurant

    14 r. Poissonnière F - 56100 Lorient

Not far from the port, the dining room is characterised by simple minimalist design and a certain intimacy. The well-prepared food takes its inspiration from the sea (fresh cod with aioli, Clementine tartlets).

Sur le Pont ... Quite comfortable restaurant

    11 pl. Paul-Gauguin F - 29930 Pont-Aven

    L'Alto Quite comfortable restaurant

    Le Vivier Comfortable restaurant

    9 r. de Beg-Er-Vir F - 56270 Lomener

Restaurant facing the sea serving seafood cuisine (of course!). Guests' toes are almost lapped by the water while the chef employs extremely fresh fish and seafood (and other) ingredients. The children's menu is a delight for mini-gourmets.

Du Port et de l'Aven Quite comfortable restaurant

    30 r. Aven F - 29920 Névez

Fish and shellfish are the stars of the show - freshly fished and cooked to perfection. Start with the langoustines, then try the turbot with mousseline sauce, lobster or the Ribot cream dessert. It doesn't get much more Breton than this!
