Former Stosskopf Submarine Base star : The Michelin guide review

The three large blocks that make up the base were built in 1941-43. The largest, "Keroman 3", is open to visitors. 170m long and 20m high, it housed submarines with graving docks. After the war, the French Navy took possession of the base and set up the second squadron of Atlantic submarines, disbanded in 1995. The only one like it in the world today, this base which can hold up to 30 submarines was built between 1941 and 1943. Disused since 1997, the base offers visitors an extremely desolate entourage but some beautiful sea views all the same. The base has been returned to Lorient and its reconversion is underway (Port Tabarly is to be created here).
