Kernascléden : The Michelin guide review

Located in the centre of the Pourlet region, this Breton village is primarily known for its magnificent church. Built by the Rohan family, it was consecrated in 1453. It is said that the same workers built the St Fiacre du Faoüet chapel thirty years later; angels are supposed to have carried the masons and their tools between the two sites. The word Ker certainly means “town” or “village”, while the rest appears to be derived from the name of a local lord.

    L'Alto Quite comfortable restaurant

Du Port et de l'Aven Quite comfortable restaurant

    30 r. Aven F - 29920 Névez

Fish and shellfish are the stars of the show - freshly fished and cooked to perfection. Start with the langoustines, then try the turbot with mousseline sauce, lobster or the Ribot cream dessert. It doesn't get much more Breton than this!

  • L'Art Gourmand Quite comfortable restaurant

    14 pl. de la Maison-des-Princes F - 56620 Pont-Scorff

This small restaurant combines simplicity and a good eye for detail - no mean feat! Roast hake with a mixed spice sauce, poached pears, mulled wine and almond sponge biscuits are just a few of the dishes on offer.

    Le Vivier Comfortable restaurant

    9 r. de Beg-Er-Vir F - 56270 Lomener

Restaurant facing the sea serving seafood cuisine (of course!). Guests' toes are almost lapped by the water while the chef employs extremely fresh fish and seafood (and other) ingredients. The children's menu is a delight for mini-gourmets.

    Le Yachtman Comfortable restaurant

    14 r. Poissonnière F - 56100 Lorient

Not far from the port, the dining room is characterised by simple minimalist design and a certain intimacy. The well-prepared food takes its inspiration from the sea (fresh cod with aioli, Clementine tartlets).
