Situated on the Crussol mountainside, the ruins of the villette (small town) were a refuge for plain dwellers in times of trouble. Access to the castle dominating the Rhône from a height of 230m is along the side of the fortifications. It offers a remarkable view of the Valence plain, the Bourg-lès-Valence dam and the confluence of the Rhône and the Isère. Following the abrupt peaks to the south, the ruins form part of the decor along the foothills of the Massif Central.
