While Pommery's widow was energetic, the widow Ponsardin of the son of Phillipe Cliquot was even more so, having founded the Veuve Cliquot company in 1772. It was widow Ponsardin who had the initiative of the /iturning/i of the bottles process in 1826 (remuage). The estate has 265 ha of vines and exports 3/4 of its production abroad.
