Colombey-les-Deux-Églises : The Michelin guide review

In his Mémoires, Charles de Gaulle described his home village thus: “High on a plateau and distinguished by a wooded hill, it has for centuries lain at the heart of a landscape tilled by its people”. This typical village of the upper Champagne region standing at the edge of the Dhuits forest owes its renown to the great statesman – he retired to his house, La Boisserie, firstly in 1946 and finally in 1968. He lies in Colombey cemetery; a memorial erected in 2008 recalls the events of the 20C.
