Housed in a 13C Dominican convent, this museum contains works by Grünewald, Schongauer and Isenmann, in particular. Dedicated in part to Rhineland art, it displays impressive collections of paintings, sculptures and minor arts from the late Middle Ages to the Renaissance, the highlight of which is the Issenheim altarpiece. Modern art is also represented with works by Renoir, Picasso, Léger, Braque etc. A section of the museum is also devoted to the history of the town and exhibits from Alsace.
