St Michael's Square : The Michelin guide review

At the far end of the Kohlmarkt, St Michael's Square gives onto the curved façade of St Michael's Wing (or Michaelertrakt) of the Hofburg, dominated by its famous cupola (1888-1893). On the other side, note the Looshaus (1911), built only twenty years later. At no 2, the Griensteidl, a famous early 20C literary café, is still a great institution. At no 1, the Church of St Michael is a mixture of styles from different periods.
