Founded by Emperor Josef II in the late 18C, the former Academy of Surgery and Medicine is home to the Museum des Institutes für Geschichte der Medizin, the Museum of the History of Medicine. It would probably be rather insignificant, were it not for the amazing collection of «anatomical preparations» commissioned by Josef II for the students. This collection of wax torsos is not an easy sight, although extremely realistic and even strangely beautiful.
