Church of Maria Treu : The Michelin guide review

Founded in 1597 to educate poor children, the Clerical Order of Pious Schools established itself in Vienna in the 17C. Their 18C church, with its white and gold façade, is situated on a small square, in which stands a «Plague Column surmounted by a statue of the Virgin Mary, amid monastic buildings. A fine example of the transition from the Baroque to the Classical style. Inside, two large domes are decorated with Rococo frescoes.
