Occupying the Palace of the Abbots of Zwettli, the Dommuseum was founded in 1933. With its extensive painting and sculpture collections, including fine Renaissance works such as Cranach the Elder's Ecce Homo (1537), it makes for a perfect end to the cathedral visit. The cathedral treasury contains rare works such as the Portrait of Duke Rudolf IV, one of the very first portraits in Western art (1365), two Syrian vases and a magnificent Passion altarpiece (c 1460).
