Schloss : The Michelin guide review

The castle, a former residence of Emperor Friedrich III, dates from the late 15C. On the first floor, it houses the Schlossmuseum, which displays the Upper Austria provincial museum's art collections from the Middle Ages to the Rococo era, as well as an important arms collection. The second floor gathers together popular arts and handicrafts collections, as well as a 19C picture gallery. Visitors can enjoy a fine view from the terrace at the foot of the fortress.

possibility of guided visits: Tue-Fri 9am-6pm, w.-ends and public hols 10am-5pm. Closed on Mon and Nov 1.

Pros

Le Schlossmuseum avec sa nouvelle aile moderne construite en 2009 offre au Schlossmuseum un espace encore plus grand. L'exposition sur l'Histoire de Haute-Autriche, offre un apercu depuis la Préhistoire jusqu'à nos jours, que ce soit pour la faune et la flore, les pièces de monnaie, les traditions, etc. Très intéressant si on s'intéresse à l'Histoire de la région. Cette exposition est permanente. D'autres expositions non permanentes sont aussi proposées. En ce moment, une exposition sur notre rapport avec la nourriture alors que nous sommes de plus en plus mobiles. A voir absolument.
