This peaceful town, at the foot of the Grossglockner road, has become one of the leading summer ski resorts in Europe, thanks to the development of the Schmieding glacier on the side of the Kitzsteinhorn. In Summer, the upper Kaprun valley, famed for its magnificent high-mountain setting, offers superb walks. The Alexander-Einziger-Weg pathway, linking the Alpincenter (upper section of the Kitzsteinhorn) to the top of the Maiskogel, is not to be missed.
