Hofkirche : The Michelin guide review

Ferdinand I had this hall-church built in the middle of the 16 th century, in order to house the extraordinary Mausoleum of Emperor Maximilian. Its Gothic style is partially masked by Renaissance and Baroque additions. It also became the Tyrol's national sanctuary, with the tomb of Andreas Hofer, hero of the 1809 insurrection. Its magnificent furniture, such as the princes' pulpit, and 16th-century organ, are famous, as well as the adjacent Silver Chapel.
