Heiligenblut, at the foot of the south slope of the Grossglockner road, is a return to civilization for the tourist who has just crossed the lonely high mountains. The slim church with its steeple in silhouette against the snowy Grossglockner is a very picturesque site. The resort's ski slopes stretch from 1 300 m to 2 900 m in a high-mountain environment, without vegetation. Despite the high altitude, snow conditions are not always excellent.
