Braunau am Inn : The Michelin guide review
This border town, birthplace of Adolf Hitler, has had a civic charter since 1260. A bridge over the Inn links Branau with the Bavarian town of Simbach. The picturesque town centre and Salzburg district, with numerous Gothic houses, the parish church, and its 96-m high bell tower, testify to the town's former wealth, earned through the salt trade. Remains of Branau's former three rings of fortifications can be seen.
